Victims' names released in Muskegon shooting

Jordan Carey, 29, was killed and Mariah Cantu, 25, was injured.

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Police in Muskegon have released the names of the victims in a shooting that killed one and injured another on Sunday, April 22.

Jordan Carey, 29, was killed and Mariah Cantu, 25, was injured.

Just before 7:30 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Merrill Avenue on the report of a shooting.

Once on scene, officers found Carey and Cantu had been shot. Carey was pronounced dead at the scene and Cantu was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspected shooter, a 27-year-old man from West Olive, was later involved in a shooting with Ottawa County Law Enforcement Officials. The suspect did not survive. No officers were injured.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.

The case remains under investigation by Detectives of the Muskegon Police Department.
