One person stabbed in Rosa Parks Circle, suspect arrested

GRPD says the stabbing was not a random act of violence.

UPDATE, June 18: The suspect in the Rosa Parks Circle stabbing was arrested on June 14. Reginald Van Perry, 51, was arrested for assault with intent to murder. He is currently lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Rapids Police say that one person was stabbed in Rosa Parks Circle on Monday night, June 4.

The victim was stabbed around 7:30 p.m. When officers arrived, both the suspect and victim had already left. Officers located the weapon at Rosa Park Circle and were able to interview people that were still at the Park.

A little later on, the victim -- a 28-year-old man -- arrived at an area hospital with a serious cut to the neck. Investigators have determined he was the intentional target, and there may have been another altercation between the suspect and victim earlier in the day.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 40s who was wearing all black. Investigators are still looking for the suspect. According to GRPD, attempts are being made to locate video footage of either the incident or the suspect.
