Muskegon man headed to trial for stabbing and killing his girlfriend

A Muskegon man prosecutors say was homeless is taking the open murder charge against him to trial.

MUSKEGON, Mich. - A 21-year-old Muskegon man is headed to trial for open murder.

Armand Cole is charged with the stabbing death of 38-year old Amanda Shankle on April 27.

Cole and Shankle were dating at the time of her murder. The attack happened at a home on Langeland Street in Muskegon. Shankle was found unresponsive at the home after Cole called 911.

An autopsy showed Shankle died as the result of a stab wound to the buttocks.
