GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Boys in Blue hosted athletes from Special Olympics Michigan on Friday June 22, 2018.
Special Olympic Michigan athletes took part in the third annual Unified Soccer match at Houseman Field. The match featured members of the community teaming up with Special Olympic athletes for an exhibition match.
It took place during halftime of Grand Rapids Football Club's match with AFC Ann Arbor. Special Olympics says these types of activities between the athletes and local community members helps break stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities.
