GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - “It is with great excitement that we announce Jeff as the next coach of the WMCC softball co-op,” said WMC athletic director Josh Glerum.

“Jeff is a proven leader who has coached various levels of softball. His love for the Lord and investing in young people was evident in the interview process. We look forward to the imprint he will put on the softball program.”

Hawke, who moved to Grand Haven from Cadillac in 2012 to take over the Department of Public Safety, said of the new opportunity, “I’m honored and excited to coach the WMC/MCC varsity softball team. We’re going to work hard, play hard and have a lot of fun.

“Most importantly, we’re going to set a Christ-like example on and off the field. I look forward to coaching our returning veterans and welcoming new players to the team.”

Hawke will get the chance to coach his daughter, Sophie, who will be a junior at WMC this fall.

The Warriors finished the 2018 season at 9-19 overall and 3-9 in Lakes Eight Conference play with a 14-3 loss to Montague in the district semifinals.
