Holland man charged with June robbery at Byron Center bank

Police have arrested a 34-year-old Holland man in connection to a bank robbery late June,

BYRON CENTER, Mich. - A Holland man has been charged with the June robbery of a Byron Center bank in which a gun was pointed at a teller.

The June 22 robbery at Huntington Bank, 2365 84th Street at Byron Center Avenue SW, occurred about 1:30 p.m.

Marcello Joseph Diaz, 34, was arraigned Wednesday, July 11 in 63rd District Court on one count of bank robbery, a potential life offense. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Investigators with the Kent County Sheriff's Department used tips and surveillance video to track down the suspect, who wore a mask and used a handgun during the afternoon robbery.

Diaz has a probable cause hearing set for later this month. The June 22 heist was the fourth bank robbery in Kent County this year; all have resulted in arrests.
