GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - John Ball Zoo is debuting two Bali Mynahs, an endangered bird species.

The zoo says that the Bali Mynah are "one of the most critically endangered bird species in the world," and they are the most endangered animal at the zoo.

There are about 50 Bali Mynahs in the wild and 1,000 that are known to live in zoos and breeding programs.

These birds are pure white, expect for black tips on their wings and tail and a sky blue eye patch. Bali Mynahs are monogamous birds, and the zoo says they are believed to form long-term bonds.

The pair are a part of the Species Survival Plan. They have bonded and reproduced before, so the zoo is hopeful that there will be baby Bali Mynahs in the future.

These birds are kept in the Asian aviary near the Children's zoo.
