Fennville tries to carry strong '17 finish into 2018

The Fennville Blackhawks take on Bridgman to open their 2018 season.

FENNVILLE, Mich. - Fennville was one of the hottest football teams in West Michigan in 2017.

The problem for the Blackhawks, they got hot too late.

After dropping their first four games of the season, the Blackhawks won their final five, including an upset win over rival Saugatuck in week nine, but a 5-4 record wasn't enough to clinch a playoff spot.

In 2018, Fennville has a new head coach in Trevor Lucas, who's hoping the momentum from last year's strong finish carries into a new season.

Fennville takes on Bridgman to open the season, as the Blackhawks will look to clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2014 this season.
