Husband arraigned for murder after attempted suicide

PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. Michael McNeal has been charged with open murder and felony firearm after allegedly shooting and killing his wife on July 24, 2018.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Sherrilee McNeal was found shot to death and her husband, Michael was taken to the hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his face. Michael was hospitalized with a guard until he was released to the Ottawa County Jail on Aug. 14.

For the shooting, the sheriff's office was called to Barry Street between 152nd Avenue and 144th Avenue in West Olive shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24.

Michael was arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 15 and his bond was denied.
