GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - An Allegan man will spend more than two decades in prison after being convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Federal prosecutors say that in 2014, James Theodore Pyle, 27, posed as 15-year-old "Roman Kalhart" on Facebook. He befriended as many as 50 to 70 young teens that he talked into sending him sexually explicit photographs.

During this time, Pyle was already on probation for accosting a child for immoral purposes. His probation was revoked on Jan. 25, 2015 and he was sentenced to 33 to 48 months in prison. He will begin serving his federal sentence of 245 months in prison when his state sentence ends on Nov. 20, 2018.

U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge says, “The U.S. Attorney’s Office takes very seriously cases involving child predators. Those people who would use the internet to hide their true identity to befriend and exploit children deserve the fullest punishment the law provides.”
