Pedestrian lying in the road hit, killed by 18-year-old driver

GANGES TOWNSHIP, Mich. - One man is dead after being run over in Allegan County overnight Wednesday.

Deputies say the driver called around 3:20 a.m. reporting he had run over a pedestrian who was lying in the middle of the road on 66th Street near 119th Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 16.

The 18-year-old driver told deputies he was driving south on 66th Street when he saw the man, in dark clothing, in the middle of the road. He was unable to avoid hitting him.

The man in the road has been identified as 54-year-old Robert Joe-Edward Cobb from Saugatuck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
