Grand Rapids elementary school unveils $15,000 media room makeover

William C. Abney Academy was the winner of the Media Room Makeover contest, which is funded by the Grand Rapids Griffins and Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - William C. Abney Academy unveiled its $15,000 media room makeover that was funded by the Grand Rapids Griffins and Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan.

The William C. Abney Academy was selected from elementary and middle schools throughout Kent, Ottawa and Allegan Counties as the winner of the fourth annual Media Room Makeover contest.

The renovated media room will include a new reading center with bookcases, carpet, bean bag chairs, a listening library and 450 new books. There will also be updated signage, paint, blinds and electrical work.

William C. Abney Academy was founded in 1998. It is a tuition-free, K-6 public school that operates under the public school academy governance structure.
