Family, friends honor teen killed in US-131 crash earlier this week

Andy Larson's family and friends will come together to honor the teen's life after he was killed in a crash on US-131 earlier this week.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Fourteen-year-old Andy Larson and his family were headed to a Whitecaps game earlier this week when they were hit by a car. Andy was killed in the crash.

Andy's family and friends will come together Sunday evening to honor his life. His visitation is set for 5 p.m. at Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Home, located on Cascade Road SE. His funeral will be on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids.

Andy and his family were stuck in traffic on US-131 near the Fifth Third Ballpark exit. The driver of the car behind them didn't realize traffic was stopped and rear-ended the family's minivan at full speed.

Andy's father is a doctor and attempted CPR on the teen, but Andy died at the scene of the crash. He was going into his freshman year at West Michigan Aviation Academy.
