MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. - Emergency managers in West Michigan say now is the time to sign up for emergency alerts that can provide life saving information in the event of a disaster.
Managers we talked to say it typically only take a couple of minutes.
Emergency messages can be sent by phone, text, and email. The systems also allow life saving messages to be sent to specific geographic areas.
- The emergency notification system in Muskegon County is called CODE RED.
- Ottawa County uses Smart 911. As does Oceana County.
- Newaygo County has NIXLE.
- Kent County has Access Kent.
