Grand Rapids, sister city in Italy celebrate 25th anniversary

The two exchanged gifts and signed a declaration solidifying their sister-city relationship.

Grand Rapids is celebrating 25 years of its relationship with a sister city in Italy.

Mayor Rosalyn Bliss met Monday, Sept. 17 with Teresa Sevrini, Perugia's deputy mayor of culture, tourism and universities.

The two exchanged gifts and signed a declaration solidifying their sister-city relationship.

"I'm very curious about the ArtPrize, because there are already many artists from Perugia that came to Grand Rapids and I'm very proud of this because they bring our culture over here," said Severini.

Mayor Bliss will travel to Perugia next month during an event called "Eurochocolate." The week long festival celebrates chocolate and attracts about one million visitors each year.
