Road construction labor dispute enters fourth week

The larger projects affected by the dispute are in Ottawa County.

Road projects across the state remain stalled as a labor dispute is now in its fourth week.

The issue is between contractors and a labor union, but it has affected about 100 local and state projects. On Friday, westbound I-96 opened a day late because of it.

Governor Snyder offered state mediation to help reach a compromise but the union declined.

Some of the larger projects affected in our area include Cottonwood Drive in Georgetown Township, as well as a repaving project on James Street between U.S. 31 and Chicago Drive in Holland Township.
