Hudsonville Unity Christian showed how complete of a football team they are on Friday night. The Crusaders got scores on offense, defense and special teams, beating South Christian 38-14.
The Crusaders took the first lead of the game when Noah Sorenson returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown with 8:17 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion gave HUC a 8-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Crusaders defense got in on the scoring when Hayden Large came off the edge to sack Sailors quarterback Chase Bradman. Large forced a fumble on the play as well and Caleb Heyboer scooped it up and returned it 28 yards for the score. Another two-point conversion made it 16-0 Crusaders.
The Sailors scored just before the half ended when Bradman lead his team into the redzone then fired a touchdown pass over the middle to Peyton Vis.
Unity Christian led 16-8 at the half before scoring again in the third to go up 24-8, then winning 38-14.
The Crusaders improve their record to 5-0 and face Zeeland West next week.
South Christian falls to 3-2 and will play East Grand Rapids next Friday.
