Bystander rescues man who drove into lake in Allendale

An area resident saw the submerged car and was able to pull the victim out of the water.

ALLENDALE TWP, Mich. - On Saturday, a 22-year-old man was pulled out of his submerged car after he drove into a lake in the Placid Waters subdivision in Allendale Township.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says that around 11 a.m. they were dispatched the subdivision, and on the way they were informed that the vehicle was sinking and only the trunk was visible.

An area resident, Tammi Geerts, saw the vehicle in the lake and jumped into the water to rescue the driver. She was able to find a side window that was down and pulled the man out of the water.

He was transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The vehicle was later pulled out of the water.
