MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Muskegon County Homeless Continuum of Care Network Outreach Committee is conducting their fifth annual 2018 Community Connect & Veterans' Stand Down event.

"We, at the Department of Veteran Affairs are humbled to share in the abundance of our local community in the care of those who served our country through military service. Come and share the bounty of this community partnership," said Susan Herrmann, Department of Veterans Affairs, Health Care for Homeless Veterans, Muskegon, MI.

The Outreach Committee's goal is to connect homeless and at-risk individuals, as well as Veterans of Muskegon County to resources and local services by offering a resource fair with peer navigator assistance.

The event is in partnership with the Department of Veteran Affairs to provide specialized and targeted services to Muskegon's Veteran population.

This year, event organizers will be hosting a Mobile Food Distribution Truck that will be open to all members of the community. Community members can enjoy a free lunch while meeting with peer navigators and local resource agencies.

"There are numerous skill sets and talents within Muskegon, not to mention the passion and compassion we all have for helping others; coming together for this worthy cause will only expand our opportunity to make a real difference for people we should ultimately see as our neighbors and friends," said Michael Ramsey, Outreach Committee Chair.
