Authorities searching for armed suspect after 4th check advance store robbery

The Cash Store on Cottonwood Drive in Jenison was robbed Friday evening, and investigators believe this incident is connected to a rash of other robberies throughout Kent and Ottawa counties.

JENISON, Mich. - Authorities in Kent and Ottawa counties are searching for the suspect involved a in series of armed robberies at various check advance stores.

Most recently, the Cash Store on Cottonwood Drive in Jenison was robbed around 6 p.m. Friday evening.

Deputies say the suspect displayed a handgun to cashiers and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He then headed north on Cottonwood Drive, driving an old, light colored SUV.

There were two employees and one customer in the store at the time of the robbery. There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male between 5'6" and 5'8" tall and weighing between 150 and 175 pounds. He was wearing a blue University of Michigan hoodie and his face was covered with a black mask, sunglasses and a dark stocking cap.

Police release surveillance video after the Check 'n Go located at 1111 Washington Avenue in Holland was robbed Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Investigators believe this robbery is connected to at least three other check advance store robberies in both Kent and Ottawa counties, including an armed robbery at a Holland Check 'n Go earlier this week. The Holland Department of Public Safety released surveillance video of that incident in hopes that the public could help to identify the suspect.
