GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The average bus rider commutes 25 minutes each day, and a new program through the Kent District Library and The Rapid will make the ride a little nicer.
The Books on the Bus program will provide a collection of gently used books for all ages conveniently placed on buses for riders to enjoy -- free of charge. According to the district library, the book selection will rotate consistently to ensure riders always have new books available.
Currently, books are housed on 13 Rapid buses with plans to bump that number up to 16.
Kent District Library is also pleased to offer a Little Free Library in the Rapid Central Station. The structure will house around 50 books, including youth, teen and adult fiction and nonfiction materials. People are encouraged to take a book or leave a book.
