Ferris State QB Jayru Campbell wins Harlon Hill Award

Campbell who received 47 of the 113 first place votes leads the Bulldogs into Saturday's national championship game against Valdosta State

A Quarterback from Ferris State University has won the Harlon Hill Trophy as the most outstanding player in Division II football for the third time in five years.

Jayru Campbell joins two time winner Jason Vander Laan in the prestigious group of four GLIAC players to ever win the award. The other two winners from the GLIAC are Curt Anes from Grand Valley State in 2002 and Joique Bell from Wayne State in 2009.

Campbell received 47 of the 113 first place votes and leads the Bulldogs into Saturday's national championship game against Valdosta State in McKinney Texas. The GLIAC Player of the Year has thrown for 2,832 yards while rushing for 1,338 yards and has accounted for a national-best 47 touchdowns for the 15-0 Bulldogs.

Campbell will be honored at an awards banquet on January 10, 2019. The other national finalists included: Notre Dame College freshman running back Jaleel McLaughlin, Hillsdale College senior quarterback Chance Stewart, Bowie State senior QB Amir Hall, Valdosta State sophomore QB Rogan Wells, Emporia State senior QB Braxton Marstall, Southern Arkansas senior receiver Ka'Ronce Higgins, Angelo State senior defensive end Markus Jones, and Sioux Falls junior running back Gabriel Watson.
