ROCKFORD, Mich. - A West Michigan runner with autism has completed his 2018 goal and ran 2,018 miles.
Adam Quinn, a 21-year-old Rockford native, finished his goal Saturday morning around 11 a.m. downtown Rockford near the dam, where family and friends joined in celebrating his feat. He was presented with a medal from Run the Edge.
To get to 2,018 miles, Adam complete four marathons in 2018 -- Walt Disney World 25th anniversary marathon, Boston Marathon, Charlevoix and the Chicago Marathon as well as completing the Amway River Bank Run 25K -- formerly known as the Fifth Third River Bank Run.
Adam's family says he's enjoyed running since middle school, providing him with the ability to focus, skill building beyond the physical component, a growing network of friends and the chance to beat his personal best everyday and every race.
"[Adam] has overcome numerous barriers to participate and achieve his goals," Adam's father, Allan, said. "Autism doesn't define him, it leads to more creative approaches to life and continuing education of others to appreciate the value of intellectual and personality diversity."
Adam's dad says there are no plans to run 2,019 just yet.
