They say luck is when preparation meets opportunity, right?

Ferris State receiver Keyondre Craig runs against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. The Bulldogs won to advance to the NCAA Division II semifinals.

Late in the third quarter of the Division II national championship game, Ferris State quarterback Jayru Campbell seemed to be trying to throw the ball out of the end zone for an incompletion.

What happened next was incredibly lucky.

But, they say luck is when preparation meets opportunity, right?

On a third-and-10 from the Valdosta State 13-yard line, Campbell, who won the Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II player of the year on Friday, was rolling to his left. With no one seemingly open, he threw along the sideline.

Valdosta State defensive back Cory Roberts caught the pass as he was jumping out of bounds and tried to tip the pass to a teammate.

But, right near the goal line, Keyondre Craig was there to make the grab and score the touchdown.

The score was confirmed after replay review. It drew the Bulldogs to within four points in their quest to pull off the men's basketball-football national championship double play.
