Two families receive forever homes in Greenville

Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity dedicated two homes on Sunday.

GREENVILLE, Mich. - On Sunday afternoon, Montcalm County Habitat for Humanity unveiled two homes for two deserving local families.

Habitat for Humanity held a dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In the spring of 2017, Spectrum Health donated the homes because expansion projects required them to move eight houses near the hospital. Those houses were given to Habitat for Humanity, and two of them were moved to N. Lincoln Street and were restored before the dedication.

"Not only did we save these two homes from the landfill but we coordinated a simultaneous move across town and with the help of hundreds of volunteers and thousands of man hours have completed them at the same time," said Michael Adams, the executive director of Montcalm Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity said that now two families will be able to wake up on Christmas morning in their new homes.

"It is a huge accomplishment when Montcalm County Habitat is able to change the lives of a local deserving family," said Adams. "It is nearly unbelievable that we have accomplished this for two families at the same time."
