HOLLAND, Michigan — Seven people, including a toddler and a firefighter were injured in a house fire in Holland on Friday morning, according to the Holland Fire Marshal.
Three of the victims were taken to Holland Hospital, one is in serious but stable condition and the other two are listed in stable condition. The other three victims were treated at the scene.
Five of the victims were in the house on West 19th Street near Pine Avenue around 9:00 a.m. Friday, when the fire started. One man was injured while rescuing people inside.
When firefighters arrived at the home there was a large amount fire and smoke coming from the front. Firefighters searched the home to make sure no one was still inside. They needed to evacuate the house shortly after completing the search because the roof was about to collapse.
A Holland firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury.
Firefighters continued to fight the fire from outside the home until it was contained. They stayed on the scene until 2:30 p.m. due to challenges from hidden fires from the roof collapse.
The Department's Fire Marshal is still trying to determine the cause of the fire, but early indications are that it was accidental in nature. They believe it started in a front living room.
The house is a total loss. The siding on one of the next door houses was damaged by the fire.
