FRUITPORT CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — In December, Sears Holdings announced it would begin closing dozens of Sears and Kmart stores, which includes the Sears store at Lakes Mall in Fruitport Township.

"Store Closing" signs now hang on the store's exterior, along with others reading "fixtures and equipment for sale."

A $5.2 billion investment from a hedge fund will keep the retailer afloat.

It means around 400-Sears and Kmart stores nation-wide will stay open and 45,000 workers will keep their job.

However, it will not reverse the decision announced in December to close 80 stores. The Fruitport location is expected to close it's doors in March.
