HOLLAND, Michigan — On Saturday just before 8 p.m., a bicyclist was hit by a pick-up truck with an attached snowplow on 144th Avenue near Butternut Drive in Holland Township.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said that a 46-year-old was driving his 1996 Chevy pick-up truck with the plow, and he hit a 25-year-old who was riding his bike on 144th Avenue.

The 46-year-old driver said he didn't see the bicyclist and initially did not know he hit him. The 25-year-old was dragged for several hundred yards before becoming dislodged.

The bicyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to Holland Hospital. He was then later transferred to Spectrum Butterworth where he is listed in critical condition.

The Sheriff's Office said that the driver of the snowplow is cooperating with the investigation and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
