Fans help 'The Accidentals' replace stolen equipment

Between a Go-Fund-Me page and insurance, members of the band hope to replace $70,000 dollars worth of gear lost when they say their equipment van was stolen during a stop in Tucson.

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Michigan based The Accidentals say they expect to play all the remaining dates on their West Coast tour, even though a trailer full of their equipment was stolen during a stop in Tucson.

Band members say the trailer was gone when they left their hotel in the morning.

“With a lot of our gear in it, unfortunately,” says musician Katie Larson.

Except for the drums, their musical instruments were in the hotel and not taken, but they say they lost $70 thousand worth of equipment.

“All the gear necessary to pull off a live show is gone,” says band member Savannah Buist. “It is really shocking.”

The musicians hope insurance will cover most of the loss, and a Go-Fund-Me page set up by fans and friends may cover the rest.

The Accidentals added a new photo.

“It has been a real emotional roller coaster,” says Larson.  “After waking up and seeing everything gone and then having all the support from our fans.”

“There has been so much support behind us and belief in what we do,” says Buist. “It has really been our rock.”

To make matters worse, band members say their van needs a new engine, another $9,000 expense.   But they say they will persevere.

“The show must go on,” says Larson. “We are going to finish the tour strong."

The band is a frequent performer in west Michigan, and they will be back in the area next month.

They are scheduled to perform at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor February 15.
