Three cars involved in crash on US-31 while drawbridge stuck

The bridge got stuck Friday evening causing traffic back-ups on US-31.

UPDATE: The Michigan Department of Transportation said that US-31 reopened around 6:10 p.m.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said that three cars were involved in crash on US-31 near Ridge Street.

The investigation shows that southbound traffic had stopped on US-31 because the bridge was malfunctioning. An 18-year-old Muskegon resident was traveling south on US-31 and she didn't stop in time for traffic on the road.

She collided with a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 49-year-old Grand Haven resident, and that car crashed into a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 27-year-old Fennville man.

The 18-year-old woman the 27-year-old man were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
