32 babies in a year! Labor and Delivery Unit expecting

32 staff members in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Spectrum Butterworth are expecting.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — "That story came out in May that went viral with the 9 nurses being pregnant at the same time," said Yelena Davis an OB Resident at Spectrum Butterworth.

After seeing that, the Labor and Delivery Unit at Spectrum Health…

"We all kind of laughed," said Labor and Delivery Unity Nurse Christina Vanbemden.

"We have a lot more than that," said Dr. Davis.

32 staff members to be exact.

"There’s a list in our lounge, a giant list," said Vanbemden.

That list shows the name of everyone who’s expecting and their due dates.

"It just kept growing and growing and growing..." said Vanbemden.

There’s not a more perfect place for these expecting moms to work.

"This is very much a work family," said Dr. Davis.

Not only is it a labor and delivery unit and not only does the staff feel more like family, but Spectrum Health Butterworth delivers more babies than any other hospital in the state and is the 7th busiest Labor and Deliver unit in the nation.

"It’s just fun going through the whole journey together and know how everyone is doing," said Vanbemden.

This staff has due dates ranging from September of 2018 to September of 2019.

"It’s so much fun to see coworkers go through it," said Dr. Davis.

"It’s just a great mom community to work around every day," said Vanbemden.
