Muskegon ceremony honors the 52 submarines lost in WWII

There was also a flyover of planes performed by the Missing Man Formation.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Sunday morning, the USS Silversides Submarine Museum in Muskegon hosted the 32nd annual Lost Boat Ceremony. 

The event paid tribute to the 52 submarines carrying 3,500 Americans that were lost during WWII. There was also a flyover of planes performed by the Missing Man Formation and a musical celebration of those who serve in every branch of the military. 

The morning ended with the running of the engines of the USS Silversides Submarine and a picnic lunch. 

The USS Silversides Submarine Museum is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
