LOWELL, Mich. — A Lowell Township man is dead following a motorcycle vs. SUV crash Wednesday night.
According to the Kent County Sheriff's Office, it happened at 9:23 p.m. in the 2700 block of Alden Nash Ave. in Lowell Township.
Authorities shut down the intersection after a motorcycle collided with an SUV. The 37-year-old motorcyclist was going south on Alden Nash Avenue and passing another southbound vehicle, when it crashed into a 2015 Ford Edge going north.
The sheriff's office says the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
The Ford Edge was driven by a 67-year-old Lowell man. He was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The sheriff's office is still investigating the crash, and it is not yet known if alcohol was a factor.
EDITOR'S NOTE: In a previous version of this story, police said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. They have since sent out a correction and it is reflected in this story.
