What's Up This Weekend: Spooky fun at the zoo, festivals, and trunk-or-treat

This weekend in West Michigan, enjoy Halloween fun at the zoo, fall festivals and trunk-or-treat events.

Every Wednesday, we help you plan your weekend with Grand Rapids Kids -- Halloween is just around the corner and we've got a list of fall fun sure to get you and your family in the spirit.

Join the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids in celebrating Halloween with six days of trick-or-treating, costumes, entertainment, decorations, games and animals at "Zoo Goes Boo!" Get your ghouls together and head to the zoo starting Friday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It's also happened Oct. 25-27. For ticket information click here.

If you're feeling like a festival is more your speed, check out the Haven Harvest Festival in South Haven this weekend. The event promises fall flavors and fright-filled nights. There will be hayrides, headless horsemen, pumpkins flying -- and of course, apple orchards, tasty treats and more. All the fun starts up Friday night and runs all the way to Sunday. With Halloween so close -- we can't forget about candy! Grab your bags, don your costumes and head out to a trunk-or-treat event in the area. There is one happening in Byron Center at Whistlestop Park Saturday, Oct. 19 from noon until 2 p.m. There is another one happening in Kentwood at the Kentwood Dept. of Public Works on Breton Road on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until noon. Check out a full list here.
