Two firefighters suffer heat exhaustion while tending to flames, smoke at Cascade Die Casting in Sparta

There are no reports of any injured workers at this point, but firefighters are having to endure high temperatures as they battle the blaze and smoke.

SPARTA, Mich. — Crews are responding to a fire at Cascade Die Casting in Sparta Thursday morning.

Cascade Die Casting is in the 9900 block of Sparta Avenue NW. Flames could be seen coming from the roof of the building as crews responded to the scene. 

There are no reports of any injured workers at this point, but firefighters are having to endure high temperatures as they battle the blaze and smoke.

The Sparta Fire Chief says two firefighters tending to the scene suffered heat exhaustion. 

It is unclear at this time how the fire started. 

Cascade Die previously caught on fire in 2014.

Cascade Die is a die-casting company with other locations in Grand Rapids and North Carolina. It was founded in 1978.
