GVSU hosting solar eclipse viewing event

Eclipse glasses, solar telescopes and a pinhole camera will be provided for safely viewing the eclipse.

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Grand Valley State University is holding its very own solar eclipse viewing event

On Monday, April 8 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. the Department of Physics will be hosting the event in front of the Kirkhof Center on the Allendale campus. 

Eclipse glasses, solar telescopes and a pinhole camera will be provided for safely viewing the eclipse. 

There will also be informational events held at the beginning of the event and before maximum coverage takes place.

In Allendale, the partial eclipse will begin at 1:55 p.m., maximum coverage of 93.2% will occur at 3:11 p.m. and the partial eclipse will end at 4:24 p.m. 

The event is weather-dependent, so people planning on attending are encouraged to check with the Department of Physics' website or call them at (616) 331-2274 if the weather is questionable. 

Those attending can pick up eclipse glasses prior to the event in the Physics Department office in PAD 118.
