GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A West Michigan organization is planning multiple beach clean-up events in three Lakeshore communities this summer.
Happy People Hike is teaming up with local bars and hosting beach clean-up events in South Haven, Muskegon and Saugatuck.
After each of the events, volunteers can grab a drink at a happy hour-style event at the local partner bar.
"In conjunction with Happy People Hike, Corona and South Bay Recycle where we are putting on a trash cleanup series this summer. We're focusing on the beaches because of Corona, obviously. We are teaming up with local bars where we do a beach cleanup and then we celebrate with a happy hour afterwards," said Alison Glowinsk, founder of Happy People Hike.
The event dates on their website include:
- Saturday, May 4 - South Haven Clean Up
- Saturday, May 25 - Muskegon Clean Up
- Saturday, June 8 - Saugatuck Clean Up
- Saturday, June 29 - Muskegon Clean Up
- Saturday, July 13 - Saugatuck Clean Up
- Saturday, July 20 - South Haven Clean Up
Glowinsk said there will also be prize giveaways as part of the events.
