Get an inside look at the Ada Hotel

The DeVos-family-backed project plans to welcome guests this fall. The boutique hotel will also be home to two restaurants.

ADA, Mich — Construction is nearing completion for a boutique hotel with a modern spin on the original Ada Hotel dating back to the 19th century.

AHC Hospitality, which also operates the Amway Grand Plaza and JW Marriott in Downtown Grand Rapids, shared more details about what guests can expect this summer into the fall for the opening of Ada Hotel.

The 37,000 square ft. property boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Thornapple River along River Drive.

“Our vision for Ada Hotel was to create a warm and welcoming environment for those visiting Ada or community members looking for a night out,” said Cheri DeVos, owner of Ada Hotel. “It’s exciting to see this project come to life, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience what makes this place so special.”

The 36-room hotel will offer single, double and one-bedroom suites. Families with children will have the option to select rooms with bunk beds.

The hotel's general manager says there is one particular attraction she thinks the community will enjoy the most.

"I think the big draw is going to be the restaurants. That was a big part of Ada Hotel becoming a part of the community. We have The Post, which is on the ground floor here. It's a tavern with tavern fare. We're going to be heavy on brews. And then on the third floor, we have Rick's which is going to be like small plates, and a lot of mixology...just really cool, unique spaces," Ada Hotel General Manager Becky Jones said.

The hotel expects to start taking reservations in May for the fall of 2024.

The Post

The Post is expected to have seating for 110 guests offering craft beers from local breweries and tavern cuisine.

Developers said a unique feature of this restaurant is the "drink-share" program. Customers can pre-pay for a drink for a friend, leaving behind a postcard with a complimentary beverage message.

The Rix

The other restaurant named after the "Founding Father of Ada" Rix Robinson is described as "an approachable lounge and dining space."

The 130-seat restaurant will offer food and drinks inspired by cuisines around the world as well as showcasing local ingredients.

The Rix will also feature a three-season outdoor terrace for dining and drinks overlooking the Thornapple River.
