MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — The City of Muskegon Heights shared good news after receiving results from its first round of water sampling following a drop in pressure in the city's water system earlier this week.

The city said that the boil water advisory is still in effect, but the first round of sampling was negative for bacteria and other contaminants.

The city has already submitted the second round of sampling, which is expected back sometime on Saturday. The city's water system has also been completely flushed since the drop in water pressure.

The boil water advisory has been in place since Wednesday morning.

Residents are asked to boil their water for at least one minute and let it cool before drinking it or using it to cook, prepare food or brush their teeth. They do not need to boil their water to do laundry, wash their hands or bathe.

There are currently no further bottled water distributions planned.
